A short story is told in Mandarin, but the pictures of the comic strip are all mixed up. Your child listens carefully and puts the pictures in the order in which things really happened. The stories come from everyday life in China: a school morning, making dumplings (包饺子), a trip to see the pandas, a rainy day, a birthday party and Chinese New Year.
The storyteller is joined by the people in the story: Mum calls 小明,快起床!, Grandpa says 新年快乐!给你一个红包。 So your child hears real little conversations, not just a narrator.
This game is a step up from our beginner games. It is made for children who already know some Chinese, and for teenagers who have been learning for a few years and want a real challenge.
Every sentence can be heard again as often as needed. A game without mistakes earns a gold medal and moves up a level. There is no timer.
For children and teenagers aged about 10 to 16. Plays in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone (turn the phone sideways). Free, no account and no download.

Story Strip works well on a big screen in class: listen to a sentence together, then let the group decide in Chinese which picture comes next. Afterwards, children can retell the story themselves using 先、然后、最后. Start with the practice mode to hear all the words with example sentences.
In a live online lesson, a teacher plays games like this with your child and gets them speaking Chinese out loud, from the first lesson.
