Mum (妈妈) calls with a shopping list in Mandarin, for example 两盒牛奶、一个面包、三个土豆 (two cartons of milk, a loaf of bread, three potatoes). Your child listens, remembers the list and walks along the supermarket shelves to put exactly the right things in the basket. At the checkout Mum looks in the basket: did you forget something, or buy too many?
This game is a step up from our beginner games. It is made for children who already know some Chinese, and for teenagers who have been learning for a few years and want a real challenge.
A gold medal takes your child to the next level. There is no timer: the challenge is listening carefully and remembering.
For children and teenagers aged about 9 to 16. Plays in the browser on a computer, tablet or phone (turn the phone sideways). Free, no account and no download.

Shopping List works well on your own or with a group on a big screen: one person listens, the others help remember. Start with the practice mode to hear every food word with an example sentence, then try level 1 and work up to level 3.
In a live online lesson, a teacher plays games like this with your child and gets them speaking Chinese out loud, from the first lesson.
