Beep Beep! Ride the School Bus and Learn Transport in Chinese

Children love things that move: buses, bikes, trains and planes. So let's go for a ride! Hop on the school bus in Beijing and follow the dotted line. At every stop, the bus sees something new.

Here is the best part: you only need one little sentence for the whole trip. Say it at every stop, and your child learns it without even trying.

Play it on the way to school

The 我看见 game. On your own way to school, take turns spotting vehicles. Whoever sees one first says 我看见 + the word. A car? 我看见汽车！ A bike? 我看见自行车！

Make some noise. Every vehicle gets a sound: 嘀嘀 (dīdī) for a car, 叮叮 (dīngdīng) for a bike bell, 呜呜 (wūwū) for a train. Younger children love making the sounds while saying the word.

Draw the route. Let your child draw their own dotted line from home to school, with the vehicles they see every day. Then they can be the teacher and tell you the words in Chinese!
